Apparently there are features of the latest autocad DWG file version that don't translate if you save it as an ACAD 2004 DWG (which is what MD2006 uses). I was TOLD this, but I'm not sure it's true (or if we would really use those awesome features). Our drawings aren't THAT complex, 95% of them...
If big-wigs were in the meeting with you when he said that and they didn't look horrified or embarrassed, I wouldn't be as concerned with the professionalism of the Head(case) Engineer as with the professionalism of the high-ups. Find you a new job ASAP.

The Mfg. Co I work at has the latest version of Mechanical Desktop but we are stuck using 2006 because the VoloView3 program that everyone else uses doesn't open DWG files made with anything later than MD2006. Does anyone have any suggestions for a cheap/free DWG viewer that can display DWGs...
Another thing to keep in mind is that there are so many variables involved in machining a part that it really isn't worth your time to try and find the ideal speed/feed, because the Setup Machinist is most likely going to change it (or try to change it) anyway. Even if you hit the bullseye...
You really need to talk to management about getting digital mics that go to half-tenths. If it's a dirty environment, they make ones that arent effected by oil/coolant. Probably less errors in a full day of production just because they are looking at digits instead of lines. This is cheaper than...
