Hi to all FEA specialists,
I'm trying to obtain SIF values for custom-fab Y-laterals (for a flare line), to be inserted in an AutoPipe model.
Was advised that the easiest way is to use Nozzle Pro as we have licensed access to it.
Results of SIF came out to be:
Source, Inplane...
Hello all,
I would like to know what are the differences between:
1) Eddy current test
2) Magnetic-biased Eddy current test
3) Remote-field Eddy current test
And also their applications please?
Thank you.

Hi,
Like to know the reason a plug has to be seal-welded to the tube of a heat exchanger.
It just so happens in the plant I am working, when a Turnaround take place, all heat exchangers with tube seal-welded to tubesheet has to have the plugs seal-welded to the tubes as well.
Thank you.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I would like to do a rerating calcs for the existing pipe to see if it meets the new design pressure for the new equipment, 7240kpa.
Thanks.
Hi,
I have an existing pipe which has a design pressure of 6610kpa. A tie-in from a new equipment is to be done via a new pipe to this existing pipe. Like to know where I can find a guideline on the calcs.
Thanks.
SnTMan,
If a bundle is to be replaced, a budget foreast has to be made way before the Turnaround. The problem is, the budget was not to fit replacing the bundle. I am just talking about modification that can last for couple of years until the next Turnaround, and until then we will surely be...
Hi,
What can normally be done if the baffles, tie rods, and partition plates are very badly corroded, totally useless, but the tubes are still in good condition? We are having turnaround currently and it only last for a month. I need to think of the most economical, easiest, practical and...
Hi,
What does cold setting and hot setting on Spring Can pipe support means? If I have a cold and hot setting on a Spring Can pipe support on an isometric showing the same setting reading, does that mean there will be no movement on the pipe even during operation(hot).
Thanks.
Pongsason,
In my opinion, the valve has to be tested first to see if it passes. If yes, then a blind is certainly required.
In my case, the minimum blind thickness is acceptable which has to be in accordance with ASME B31.3 para 304.5.3.
As to whether you will need a thin one will depend on...
Hi All,
Test is done, all is well.
