    I assume you are doing a static analysis. Thermal stress should increase with increase temperature. I dont know how you are applying temperature on you model, but you should get maximum stress at the clamped area. Having said that, make sure you have a decently good mesh, and you take reading...

    Why dont you definie Anisotropic material for that specific volume? You can define properties in a 6 x 6 matrix in ANSYS. I dont how many elements you plan to use, but defining a matrix for each element is generally unrealistic. Haris

    Did you try importing it in Parasolid format? You might wanna check if the lines of two volumes are not overlapping each other.

    Thanks for the reply. No, the actual geometry is going to be pretty complicated. Also, I tried making a separate volume within cylinder. It increases the number of elements significantly. With actual model, it will take forever to finish the simulation.
