I see two potential issues with tracing:
1- the PORV soft goods might not sustain high temperatures (AGC recommends pressures not higher than 30 psig for steam tracing).
2- the high temperatures might favor fouling of the sensing line.

As far as I understand, the pilot will vent a bit of the relieved material to atmosphere each time the pilot-operated PSV opens.
What is your experience in the case of liquid crude?
Do you route the pilot vent to a safe location?
