hello all,
i am looking for good books on the subject.
if you have a book to recommend, please also tell me what the book is focusing on (theory, economic comparison, installation, etc...)
THANKS!

thanks swall for your quick response!
My prior concern is the bracket. second is the nipple. the mag can live well with the alum?
the environment shouldn't be too humid, because it is well vented. the temperature of the metals can get to more than 150C deg. and through the nipple (and bracket)...
hello all,
i have a maginsium bracket to which i want to connect a nipple made of steel or aluminium. which 1 is more suitable? where can i find some info about that?
btw, i am also worried about the thread in the bracket. i don't want to damage it. is that a problem with those metals?

hi,
I am trying to evaluate pressure drop in an oil pipe. My problem is that I know that there is also air involved (~ 0.1%). The question is, how does the air influence the pressure drop? (notice i am talking about 0.1% air)
I heard opinions both ways (pressure drop shall fall/rise) but no...
hi,
i am looking for the ultimate shear stress value, used for weldings, for the following metals:
SAE4130
SAE4140
17-7PH
also if you can provide the general charactersitics of SAE4140 it'd be helpful.
thanks.

:-) no particular reason :-)
actually i prefare the temperature as high as i can get the transducer work since i want the tube to be short.
i wanted to see a formula/calculation so i figured i'd give the numbers myself... :-)
i have a transducer that operates at max 150.
and, i guess u...
hello,
I am trying to measure static air pressure in a pipe @ 300 deg C and at max. of 150 psi. The air is flowing in the pipe.
It seems quite difficult to find a sensor that survives these temperatures.
I was told that if i will connect a short tube and take the measure few inches away from...
you said your concern is that the clamping shall cause high pretension in the bolts. well, what are the loads (alternating and others) that each bolt sees, and what type of bolts are you using?
I guess you'll find out that the loads are rather small compared with the bolts yield point, and in...
hi,
i need to know how to calculate the preload tesion in a bolt connecting 2 plates. My problem is that one of the plates is subjucted to loads that would cause shear in the bolt. How do I translate it to preload? Is it simply by using the equation F=(miu)N? (miu = friction factor) (is it...
thank you all!
Philrock: i am welding a fitting with a half pipe shape to a round pipe. so i guess we are still in the traditional approach. Thanks.

sorry i am a bit rusty here. i need to know the J - polar inertia moment of a half circular body with thickness 't' around an axis that crosses at the half circle center (the circle's center.

hello all,
i am looking for manufacturers of thermometer strips.
maximum temperature to be measured is 110C (without a direct contact between the examined liquid and the strip).
i am quite lost here
any help'd be appriciated ! :-)
