    K value of a thermostat

I was actualy referring the k value as a flow restriction value, ex. 90 pipe has k balue of 1.5, 45 has 1.2. Basicaly what im trying to do is simulate the flow restiction a thermostat poses fully open with an oriface.

    K value of a thermostat

I posted in wrong section before. Wondering does anyone know an approximate K value of a fully open automotive thermostat? Thanks in advance.

    K value of thermostat

Hello, any idea what the flow restriction value is through an open typical automotive thermostat? Thanks in advance.

Projected curve onto curved surface-will not create a solid body

whoops, seems like i was trying to do things the hardway. Simplest way a colleage jsut showed me, is to simply extrude that original curve you see near the top in green, and then just trim the body whereever it sticks out.

Projected curve onto curved surface-will not create a solid body

Sketch is fully closed, drawn on a plane. Curve is projected onto a curved and flat part of the structure. As it is projected the rear line (left hand side) which closes the box dissapears. I draw one in on the projected curve, and select it during the extrusion process, but still continues to...

    The materials less traveled

I believe cosworth had an engine made of UHMW plastic years back that did quite well?

    8.0sweep causes undesireable twist

thank you, your question guided me to the solution. Was using fixed, changed to forced direction and all is fine now.

    8.0sweep causes undesireable twist

both seem to be in the same direction

    8.0sweep causes undesireable twist

Sweeping along an arc. Two different cross sections. I know this has something to do with the vector alignment of the initial sketch, but don't remember how to correct this problem. Any help is appreciated. Not supposed to fold in onto itself like that.

Imaging problems in 7.5 (image disapears)

Hello, I recently installed NX on my machine, and i notice the letters and icons are a bit "fuzzy" but what is worse, The image tends to dissapear partially, as if passing through a plane which hides the image. This happens with a sketch or 3d model. I remember this happened a few years ago at...

    Variable Intake w/ VVT

im more concerned with the variable intake, not really the VVT, more interested in making the variable intake work WITH the vvt to further exploit both mechanisms benefits.

    Variable Intake w/ VVT

Patprimmer-can you elaborate on the bobweight system you are speaking of? How would that be affected by rapid direction changes as seen on tight race tracks? I was almost thinking a pneumatic system, or maybe hydraulic. In any case-i would like the runners to respond as quickly as possible...

    Variable Intake w/ VVT

my reason for throttle position or engine load, is say you are coming out of a corner and you need some TORQUE, so you roll onto the gas pretty quickly out of the corner, the runners extend, favouring torque, then retract at a specified rate (relative to rpms i guess) and at the same time...

    Variable Intake w/ VVT

Hello, as a final school project i would like to design a system that uses both constant variable valve timing along with constantly variable intake. This would be for a race engine setup. Basically telescoping intake runners, that are synced to the cam variation as well. Change in both is based...

    Surge tank design on a 1-cyl 450cc

I'm designing an intake for a single cyl 450 cc kawasaki motor. Need some clarification of the placement of certain areas of the intake pipe. What I'm thinking is run a bellmouth intake ontop of throttle body, tapers down to class mandated restrictor, peice of straight pipe (1.5" diameter-same...
