Thank you for the answers. I am in agreement that it is permitted to have multiple undergrounds and FDCs. But generally should not be done since it makes things more complicated.
I am looking for another opinion on whether the Fire Department Connections need to be "interconnected" when a large building is supplied by more than one underground service/riser. The case I have in mind is a large warehouse (200,000 sq ft) with risers at opposite ends as was commonly done in...
This is a very interesting idea. So can one put a single hose bib valve on the system and call it a "multipurpose" system? I will have to get a hold of my Reahau rep and do some more investigation.
I have gone around and around on this issue over the years. The best solution I have seen posted yet is to first print to a DWF (i.e. publish) and then use AutoDesk Design Reviewer to convert the DWF to PDF using PDF995 or similar.
Conversion is much faster and do not get all the bugs of AutoCAD.
I will make a guess that you are using the 2008 version. This had a bug with the plot scales going crazy.

Antonf,
Just happened to catch your post. Attached please find the excel file I have been using. I have been using it for a while and found it to be helpful.
A couple limitations:
1. Max (3) items for a single day
2. Must sort the list by due date
Hopefully you can improve it some. One of...
It has been my experience that most fire pump controllers have a button inside the panel you can push to simulate the "phase reversal" condition. This is addition to making sure it runs in the right direction as previously noted.
I have used 3Dtube before at

Works OK. You have to select plines and then just give it the diameter you want to create.
A fitting designation as Class 125 denotes the following:
1. Use with steam pressure is not in excess of 125 pounds.
2. Use with water when pressure is not in excess of 175 pounds.
3. Fittings are made of cast iron.

See the following article for information on using the "PDFMaker toolbar"
http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/acrobat/articles/acr7at_emailtopdf.html
I am using Outlook 2003 and Adobe 7.0
If you have Adobe 7 or newer it adds a PDF button in Outlook that will convert a folder to a single PDF file. The PDF file creates bookmarks that automatically sort by date/subject/sender. All attachements to the emails are also stored in the PDF.
I have done several folders with 2,000 emails...
Two issues.
First to Ixaon's post about a better way. I personnaly always require a flow meter loop. That way no water is required to be flowed except during commissioning and the 5-year test. I know some people do not like the flow meters, but I believe that properly calibrated they are...
No sure I understand your question exactly. However, you are only allowed to have one disconnect between the source and controller. I think you want to look in the National Electrical Code. Couple references below.
NFPA 70 - National Electrical Code® - 2005 Edition
695.3 Power Source(s) for...
Some where in NFPA 20 it says that to have a fully sprinklered building, BOTH the pump house and main building must be sprinklered. Sorry don't have the code book handy.
And, I would definitely put a separate flow and inspectors test on the pump house bldg.
