Ted,
It was rated at 150sus (ssu) 100 F, but you can see it changes with temperature ranging from 80F to 180F.
A good reason to design a system to run in a stable range much more narrow, 110F to 125F.

Ed,
Wow, that is like trying to drive a pile (casing) with a big ball peen hammer? I bet the ringing sound will break windows and wake up people for blocks around. Yes we are talking the same bounce, but years ago we learned not to do it that way. We use ductile iron for the hammer (slug)...
EdDanzer,
Good to hear your input Ed. First, diesel hammers rarely bounce because of the pressure pre-load on the pile cap, only if they miss fire would you see this bounce. Most gravity drop hydraulic hammers on the market will bounce often, however we have a patented control valve that will...
Dear Hydtools,
American Pile Driving is not my company, Mr. White is the president of his own company.
There is some good information on the site that could enlighten OP or provide different ideas. As with many web sites, information can be some what miss leading and you should know that...
Hello Hydtools,
First, I did not write the Book of Knowledge, Mr. John White did that writing.
Quote - Impact energy transfer is not instantaneous. The time to transfer is small but finite.
Answer – No it travels about 2400 ft/sec., we tested with sensors at anvil impact and tip (toe tip)...
Peter,
I never stated your calculations were wrong, as always you are way too thin-skinned when it comes to YOUR calculations. All our hammers are gravity drop and we do not use banks of accumulators as you suggest. And you are not going to liquefy 200kPa soil without a lot of dynamic force...
Subsearobot,
You are getting some incorrect information in these posts. If you want to know how to do this job, go to American Piledriving Equipment, Inc web site and get some good information. You are basically driving a pile into the ground; this site will have good information on how to do...
To give you an answer to your questions:
Yes intermittent cavitations are permitted, so long as they are not severe and not happen for long periods of time, several minutes or longer: run the Reynolds number to see where you are at, the lower the better.
Damage will occur immediately when...
Peter,
I see you are at it again regarding hose expansion and I recall the many discussions we have had over the years. I normally do not post on these forums, but do like to read them, and this one I just could not pass up, ha, ha.
Look guys, most of the data suggested is suspect at best, and...
Trommel,
Quote - What is a good starting point to redesign?
Answer - At the load, always at the load and work backwards.
Quote - Bearing in mind the focus is on changing the hydraulic system not any other aspect.
Answer - I have no idea what this statement means, what other aspect?
Buds...
senzerz,
Not sure were you are going with this, but I can monitor the hydraulic pressure of a pump over a load range, and with known pump rpm can convert back to HP or torque required over this range. We do it with pressure transducers over time. This tells us how much actual HP or torque is...
senzerz,
This is an easy one and we do it all the time if we really want to know the torque.
Take a torque wrench and apply it to the point where the hydraulic motor will drive the flywheel. We are assuming the the flywheel has the max load already attached to the flywheel. Pull the torque...
Trommel,
Look guy, you are not getting the message or you do not want to hear it, not sure which?
Your quote set the guidelines - recently a new product has been launched with a much greater load involved.
Breakaway and running torque is basic physics we all have to deal with, I think or you...
Waross, Electrical,
Sorry wrong quote.
Waross quote - Have you considered an accumulator? It may not be enough by itself but it will help starting and provide better running surge handling if you need it
My answer - Stop that? An accumulator will not work, has nothing to do with load...
Waross, (electrical)
Quote - I think some of the managers are intereseted in the cost savings.
Answer - Stop that? An accumulator will not work, has nothing to do with load pressure, only provides additional fluid, this guy is confused enough. I don't mess with your electrons, do not mess with...
