Ice station zebra, Thanks for your reply. To my Knowledge,The only cooling fan is the flywheel, which is engine speed dependent. Naturally the manufacturer has included nicely formed shrouds to duct the cooling air across the cooling fins and the inverter. The Problem is that the manufacturer...
The thought had crossed my mind but was uncertain as to the cfm rating the fan would need to be? Based on a thirteen horsepower engine, sitting between 1250 and 3600 r.p.m., and if you thought it would increase the noise levels considerably?
I've got numerous clients in the catering/ leisure industries. They all have purchased large invertor/generators of 6.5 kva and wish to have them installed in their motorhomes or coffee vans etc. The problem being that the previous model is liquid cooled while this invertor model is air cooled...
Thanks so much, you have answered both of my threads accurately and with a minimum of fuss!... Congratulations - with out pissing in your pocket, ta mate.
Had an idea while out boating and wanted a little feed back as there isn't much info from most book stores etc.
Basically boating in our district is often an uncomfortable one, as we have vast expanses of partial open water but relatively shallow depth. Consiquently it tends to develop a very...
Turbomotor - Thanks for the lead - wikipedia will be hit hard! You do realise than you've made it increasingly difficult to explain the need to experiment with this technology on my own hilux!!! I can hear the missus now - TANK your not bolting a tank to you car!!!
Thanks patprimmer, perhaps my original statement should have read: Naturally aspirated Diesels draw basically the same amount of air at idle as they do a full revs per rotation... Naturally cfm's increase as r/m rate increase. sorry for the oversight - my bad
Crystalclear - sorry for slow response, my thoughts were the heat energy wasted out the exhaust pipe or cooling system could be tapped to extract the wasted heat energy - how quickly does the coolant turn to steam with the most basic of failures? I'm guessing This pocess could theoretically make...
WGJ - sorry for slow response... Basically petrol engines run at a constant ratio of air to fuel ( typically 14.7:1 for minimum emissions - more parts fuel for power, and less for economy ) They vary their power by varying the amount of fuel/air mixture drawn into the cylinder by means of a...
Rather than think fire, think similar principles to a gas turbine. In fact exhaust manifold injector could be fasioned similar to that of a combustion chamber/flame holder from a gas turbine.
The train of thought was to optimise thermal efficiency and drivablity of Diesel.
Possible to...
Just an idea I conjured up recently. Naturally aspirated Diesels draw basically the same amount of air at idle as they do at full revs, They only vary the amount of fuel injected into the cylinder to vary their output, add more air (i.e turbo) and you're able to burn more fuel - more power...But...
