We have some SS 316 pipelines from 2 to 12" nominal size. The pressure is 0-5 psig and temperature is -45 degree F.
While assessing the NDT reports for these pipelines it came to light that all these lines are sch.5 and sch.10. ( 1 to 3 mm thick).
Even though the thickness is ok for pressure...

There is an old valve body lying in the scrap yard. Body marking indicates 125 24" WSP. It appears from "125" that it is #125 CI body. But is there any other way to confirm the body mterial as CI or CS. We do not have any material spectoscope or any thing fancy. This body can be cut if required...
There are two pumps for lifting sea water for cooling purpose. ( One running + one standby ). Recently we have replaced the pump shaft for for Sea Water service from SS to K-Monal. The new shaft indicated signs of light pitting when pump was kept idle for about 8 months in the water. Is this ok...
Are there any issues for using spiral seam pipe instead of longitudnal seam pipe for cooling water service at normal temperature and 60 psig pressure.
Thanks
A refrigerated Butane storage tank is fabricated as per API 620.
Now repair is required to replace the some of the shell portions. Is API 653 correct standard to follow the repair procedure? API 653 states that it is for tanks fabricated to API 650.
If API 653 is not correct standard then...

This is what we are proposing to do. By inserting a blind flange spacer it will be FF against the FF C.I. Flange and RF face against RF flange.
My questing is if it is going to be leak proof and any additional staring on gasket etc
We have to replace 125# FF ductile iron / C.I. valves ( material - A536 65-45-12 & A126 GrB / A126 Gr B ) with the existing 150# RF valves. The flange on the water filter where the valve is installed is #150 RF. There is spacer installed at present between the valve and the vessel flange.
Is it...
We are modifying our work shop and all the structural members are planned to be replaced. The existing columns are tapered "I" section.
- Could some one suggest if it is OK to fabricate the tapered "I" section columns of about 7 - 8 meter length at site by A-36 plates of the required thickness...

Have you used any such spacer sucessfully or this is a suggession ( I think it is sensible ).
By inserting this steel blind flange spacer what will be its effect on the torque requirement on the bolts and leak tightness of the joint.
The service is water at noirmal temp and 60...
