RWT ( Remaining wall Thickness ) assessment of Pressure vessel

@ BJI. Thanks for update. I found API Ballot draft for 11 edition. Could you please confirm if these are the final changes in 2022 edition.

RWT ( Remaining wall Thickness ) assessment of Pressure vessel

@BJI I have not seen API 2022, need to check. Otherwise why 1.5 mm wouldn't be acceptable if UT readings along the CTP are averaged out as per the section 7.4.2. ( May be this is the reason that it has been removed in 2022 edition. ) let me try to check there

RWT ( Remaining wall Thickness ) assessment of Pressure vessel

Here is a question / clarification required for API 510 ( Pressure Vessel Insp. Code ) Section 7.4.2.1 states Quote " For a corroded area of considerable size the wall thicknesses may be averaged over a length not exceeding the following" Unquote During a recent inspection a corroded area ( 30...

    Oil PPM in GOSP

@LittleInch & @ George Thanks for reply and yes it is first stage separator handling fluid (oil, water & gas ) from wellhead.

    Oil PPM in GOSP

Is there any guideline or general observation by experience Operation Guys about what is the expected oil ppm in the water drain from 3-phase separators. It is well understood that the oil ppm in water will depend on operation pressure of the separator & temp & chemical dozing etc. For 3 stage...

Flanged QOC ( Quick Opening Closure ) for Liquid pipeline Pig Receiver

Thanks Everyone for their valuable input. Saplant: the existing receiver is CS with #300Lb rating. So I believe as long as #300lb B16.5 flange is used, i hope there will be no violation of code.

Flanged QOC ( Quick Opening Closure ) for Liquid pipeline Pig Receiver

1503-44 Exactly that is the reason to replace the temporary flange & blind with proper QOC. The temporary arrangement is implemented to continue the existing monthly pigging as QOC procurement may take some time. The line size is 20" and receiver is 24" x #300

Flanged QOC ( Quick Opening Closure ) for Liquid pipeline Pig Receiver

Recently there was a malfunction in QOC of the receiver. The welded QOC was cut & and replaced with Std. Flange and Blind as a temporary measure. Now we are planning to replace the QOC. Is it acceptable to have a QOC as Flanged instead of welded ( Almost all Launcher / Receiver that I have seen...

Minimum design Pressure requireed for applicability of ASME BPVC Sec VIII part 1

@ david339933 I looked at UG-21 but did not find anything to clarify psi / psig. It only refer to UG-98 & sec 3.2. Could you please clarify if I am missing something

Minimum design Pressure requireed for applicability of ASME BPVC Sec VIII part 1

psig or psi will make a big difference. If we consider 15 psi that is mentioned in the code as 15 psia (which is quiet normal) then practically all vessels operating even at 0.1 barg would come under purview of code. That is highly unlikely. in BPVC forum i am trying but yet to find this issue

Minimum design Pressure requireed for applicability of ASME BPVC Sec VIII part 1

Dear experts I need a clarification about applicability of Sec VIII part-1. Under section "U1" one of the conditions where code is not applicable is Quote "(-1) vessels having an internal or external pressure not exceeding 15 psi (100 kPa)" Unquote I believe it should be psig and Kpag. Expert...

    Flow meter with Mechanical register

@ RVAmeche Thanks for the link. I see that Viscosity is important parameter for correct selection among others. Could you advise what will be the effect on meter performance if high viscosity is selected ( for slightly viscous Oil but it is used for water metering ) This is because some oil...
