    how to protect SG Iron.

    The part is manufactured in two moulds, the flatness problem comes about when we join the two half together. We can still Zn spray the part after join-up / machining, but it would mean a dedicated area and we all ready are having problems with space. moving such large objects around has its own...

    Hi Guys/Galls I have a issue with protecting SG iron parts that are mated with steel (s275) parts, the assembly is then infused together as part of a GRP part (this is the product interface). We can't hold the surface flatness required for the product so we are looking at machining the area...

    Problem with Ni plated Al. 6061

    OK you could try Electoless nickel plate to 25 microns, then zinc nickel plate a further 25 microns and finish with full chromate passivate (gold is easyier to apply to the plating and looks great). This should give you a 25 year life. The chromate passivate will also give you a key is you want...

    I take it that its the exteria of the plug that is corroding? what is the require life span of the part? is there any temperature or pressure issues? what is the wear on the plug
