Has anyone out there done any GI or geotech design in the centre of Riga Latvia? Any information on ground conditions, geology, etc would be much appreciated.
The spec for highway works in the UK specifies a Gv of 3% for material with lime and/or hydraulic binder. Anyone know why it is set at 3%? I am doing some research on this test and find it hard to meet this criteria with the soils I am testing. They very rarely have a volumetric heave below 3%...

Anyone got any ideas on a quick method of determining the heave potential of stabilised or modified material. The method used at present is BS1924 method i.e. air curing CBR for 3 days followed by 25 days soaking at 20 degrees centigrade. Can anyone reccommend a better test.
Does anyone know of any research or information on the correlation between solidification of contaminated soil and the strength of the soil using quick undrained triaxials, ucs, FWD, cone penetration, NAT tests, CBR, plate bearing, clegg hammer etc
