RVAmeche,
Thanks for the reply.
I am on the Vendor side and not EPC.
That's an easy fix to my problem.
My question is mostly on the technical side and need an opinion on my understanding of bolting requirements as per B31.1.
Is this Client asking for something beyond code requirements or is he...
Hello and Good Day,
I am working on a power plant project (ASME B31.1), and the client is asking to use High Strength Stainless Steel Boltings (SA-453) for all raised face welding neck Stainless Steel flanges and spiral wound gaskets.
My problem: Table 112 of ASME B31.1, as per my...
Dear pennpiper,
the socket is 20 mm diameter with 10 mm depth and then it reduces to 13 mm, in order for a 0.5" pipe to be inserted.
The drip ring has come as 1.5" width and 5.75" diameter. It can't be welded to a SOL as space is not enough.
Thanks.

Our Client is insisting to weld a Sockolet on the tap (3" x 1/2") and proceed with welding the nipple and valve.
The...
Hello and Good Day Folks,
Our contractor has asked us using windshield washer fluid as the test media as we are entering the cold season instead of water-glycol solution mixture.

Each weld creates a Heat Affected Zone or HAZ, the ideal case is not to have the two HAZ intefered. Determining the HAZ is not an easy task. I think (but not sure) that you should have at least 2 inch or 50 mm space between the two welds.
Take care.
Hello LittleInch,
I elevated the concern to higher management and they are all agreed with your comments.
After showing these numbers to the Client, we are going to change the design to a system with proper vent and drain.
Thanks a lot,
Frank
This plant is existing and there is no proper drain/ vent system.
We already asked the Client to modify their system but no success.
The velocity and density are coming from Process engineering. The one parameter that process has a problem to provide us is the slug length.
We used F=p.A.V^2...
