Ashereng,
i'm from the caribbean. i'm not staying here as i mentioned in another thread. its funny how they always complain that the young people don't want to stay here or come back once we're gone but when we do they proceed to do nothing with us. we have tons of people on my island with...
i think the engineering profession and the title is abused in some areas. where i'm from there really isn't any governing body that regulates the profession. they don't know what engineering really is. as a consequence, it seems that anyone does anything remotely technical can and do call...
jen4950,
i think that's more cliche..the times i've actually known someone, it never really made a difference. i've gotten more interviews and interest from jobs advertised (even on monster) than any other source..of course the pool of applicants was incredibly huge though.
hmm.. since i'm not actually an engineer i'm not sure if i qualify for this thread but i'll bite. if i could go back to school now i'd probably do architecture, or culinary arts..hey, maybe i'll go back to school to do that since engineering seems to be out of the question now..
alright guys, doesn't a lower GPA mean that the student has a slightly weaker grasp of the engineering concepts/fundamentals?? this suggests that you don't value what is taught in college coursework or that its not that critical to getting a job done. i'm just not seeing how a 2.5 is more...
bradpa77,
that sounds like such a cool job. i really wouldn't mind doing design work like that, but then again, everything looks better than what i'm currently doing. lol!!
dude, you'd be the biggest idiot if you don't take the job. you have it hand already, why not?? its a free path to the PE license in all likelihood. even if you don't like it after a year or two, you would have gained the experience in a consulting environment. i would love to have that...
not to thread jack but i'm also thinking of moving to canada. i'm also in electrical engineering in the power systems field. since the EE field is over saturated, what would you suggest as an alternative?? i'm very open to retraining and living anywhere.
this one is interesting. i'd imagine that most of the time its the other way around. right now i have a supervisor that i don't like. it makes going to work and actually doing the work that much more difficult knowing you have to interact with this person. the supervisor is constantly...
