Just wanted to know what it meant:13R Residential Occupancies up to and including Four Stories in Height? What happens when you want to go above Four stories like a hotel that want to use CPVC pipe.
I do not think you need two risers, I think that NFPA 13 does not limit the number of floors that can be protected by a single riser, because each floor I think is considered a seperate fire area. However, limitations are placed on the area of each floor.
You may want to check the appendix B105 in the IFC it talks about fire-flow requirements as well as a reduction allowed when the building is sprinklerd. However the code official may not allow you to use this section unless the City or AHJ has adopted the appendix.
Trying to locate in NFPA the requirements for testing the fire rated dampers with fuseible links, how often do they need to be tested and when is it required to replace the links.

Section 510 of the international fire code talks about fire department access to equipment. Rooms containing controls for sprinkler risers, valves, air conditioning or other fire detection, suppression or control elemnst shall be indentified for the use of the fire department.
