Dear All
When checking the strength of reinforcement of connection elements (nozzle to shell/head), can some one explain why the calculation is based only on half the section? (For example: Strength of Nozzle wall shear = 3.14/2 .Dn.tn.S)
Dear All,
I don't find till now even at the well known suppliers someone who gives a positive reply to the solution annealing of the complete vessel. I know that every thing is possible but in my opinion if the cost of this required HT will be close to the cost of the item it self there should...
Thank you.
How can we apply fun cooling on that big vessel (16m long, 1.6m Dia) ?
I thought about but did not find some one having that facility on place
Dear All,
Ou client requires to perform heat treatment after the manufacturing of a pressure vessel to ASME VIII Div 1
Mtrl: SA 240 310S
Thick: 26 to 28mm
Welded
The Code do not require neither prohibit a PWHT
Normally such type of mterial needs a heat treatment to a temperature 1050-1100°C...
Dear All,
I've a doubt that pitting corrosion is applicable to carbon steel like SA516Gr70. Pitting corrosion is applicable to stainless steel.
Carbon steel is subjected to surface corrosion
Is this correct ?
Dear All,
Is it prohibited by ASME Section VIII Div1 that a repad be formed at a temperature 300 to 400°C ?
This repad SA516Gr70 will reinforce an opening at the knuckle of the head of a pressure vessel. The complete PV will be subjected to PWHT per UCS-56
I'm looking for the appropriate welding consumable for ZeCor-Z and ZeCor-310M plates welding having thickness 8mm.
In addition is there any specific condition for preheating or PWHT?
Welding process to be used: GTAW/FCAW or SAW
Thank you

I still don't agree. Since SS316 accepts a very high strain and again as specified in the MR175 annealing is required only if cold forming is to enhanse mechanical proprety (to harden the steel). My be the case is applicable for dish head manufacturing
After check in MR 175 I don't agree with you Metenger that rolling is considered as cold forming since it is not designated to enhance mechanical properties.
(see § 3.5.1)
It seams to be that SS316L plates are not so convenient for pressure vessels manufacturing under sour service requirments!
The solution annealing of a shell after rolling requires special facilities. Am I right ?
