If using NX 2.0.4 or NX 3 (studio splines introduced), I would recommend not using splines in sketches.
Create Studio splines outside the sketch as individual features, and constrain them to geometry in sketches etc.

YES, it's amazing what you can animate just by controlling the expressions of one or more parts, by linking them to the system parameter FrameNumber.
You need to create the system expressions :
FrameNumber=0 (note the capital letters)
If you make some mating conditions creating expressions...
Sorry that was not obvious, but while in the sketch, choose "Edit, edit defining string"
This brings up a list of features that use the sketch.
Highlight the feature in question (not needed if there only is one) and then use MB1 and shift-MB1 to add and remove string objects (individual curves)...
Thx for that "join curve" sugestion. Did not know what to use is for previously but I have some ideas now. The "join curve" can be made associative.
Make sure to use the "general spline" option if an excact fit is needed, instead of the default "polynomial"

You can't delete curves in a sketch that is used as a string in one or more features, e.g. Extrude.
Create the extra needed curves in the sketch, choose add/remove objects from string, using shift-MouseButton 1 to remove objects and MB 1 to add objects.
Make sure your string as closed if it was...
I would never ever expect to see UGS move functionality from an add-on application, to the simple modelling or assembly application.
I've installed NX3 a week ago for some testing at my desk only. I see no problem in getting used to the new icons, I recognize them right away.

In NX2 you can mate two surfaces with a tangent constraint.
So yes you should be able to like simulate a cylinder "rolling" over a surface.
But you want it to be mated to a set of multiple faces (lines and arcs extruded) and that is not possible (to my knowledge). You can mate one b-surface to...
sorry yes, forgot that I wanted to advice anybody to avoid zooming in too much and regenerate some models.
Our pc's completely lock up if some regenerate free form surfaces with too many defining points. It would be good if UG could estimate when it would be a problem and ask the user if they...
maybe use "Regenerate view" instead of "Update display"
format... layout...regenerate
In shaded views, be carefull how much you are zoomed in when regenerating, as it controls how many polygons are created and shaded (how many lines in wireframe display)

We are using NX1 and are surely looking at skipping NX" and go directly to NX3 after one or more maintenance of the NX3, that is wait for NX 3.0.2.
I will though get a NX3 licence up and running soon, to check out the software and prepare some "what's new" workshops for our users.
Regarding...
There is a default action, choose clone or retain.
Define exceptions for those parts that should be treated other than the default action (clone, retain, replace).
Do you want to keep the name of the top-assembly (retain) ?
This is not possible, if you assign a clone to a component in an...
Well, an example where you need to pick the circle center is, when applying coincident constraint between a line end point and a circle center.

The animation rendering use the rendering settings used for still images in that part. You then should be able to get reflections, shadows etc.
Actual screen display, is it set to hardware render ?
The problem is choosing mpeg or gif as animation output, as the quality of the rendering can...
