Josh Mings at SolidSmack recently posted how to do this by inserting a sketch picture into SolidWorks and using the AutoTrace addin.

What exactly is the problem? How are you trying to add the texture?
We show threads the same way. We select the edge at the end of the cylinder and add a cosmetic thread. Never had any problems with this method.
You can also project the 4 possible iso views from any existing view. Just use a "projected view" and move your mouse at a 45deg instead of the usual orthogonal direction.
Afterwards you can delete the original view if it is not needed.
I get the structural steel to work correctly by:
1. select a plane
2. Create the profile using the menu Toolbox: Structural Steel then click done.
3. I then have a sketch that is the correct profile and just needs to be edited to set the location and orientation.

Maybe it is so they can tell all the users at SolidWorks World that they have fixed everything (because they are customer driven after all).
Sorry, I must have sprinkled a little extra cynicism on my corn flakes this morning.
Save a drawing template (.drwdot) with the line thicknesses you want. That way, every drawing you create using your template will have the correct line types.
Are you creating a new database that contains only your sheet metal materials, or are you making a new database containing all of the SW materials also? You can reference multiple databases each with a unique name (ie sheetmetal.sldmat) located in the same location as the standard swmaterials...

The weld symbol size is defined by the ANSI drawing standard. Because the standard defines the size of the lines in the symbol, SW has decided they cannot be changed.
Before SW decided to follow the standards they used to be much smaller. Now, whatever the standard says the size should be...
I have installed SW08 on my MacBook (2.1Ghz, 2G RAM). It can't handle the larger assemblies I deal with at work, but for small projects (dozens of parts instead of thousands) it works fine. I have done things with it like model my house, furniture, archery equipment, etc.
I have been given the opportunity to spec a new workstation. Currently I have a Dell Precision 690, dual 3.72Ghz Xeon w/ 3gb RAM and a Quadro FX 4500, running 32bit XP. For some of our large machines this is barely enough. Even with simplified models, top level drawings can take 30mins or...
