    Initial cable tension (few quesitons!)

Thanks guys, It is now clear for me. :)

Linear And Non-Linear cable analysis (and output data)

Thanks JoshPlum So you recommend using SAP in this case? Have you used it before for similar situation?

Linear And Non-Linear cable analysis (and output data)

sorry, regarding what I mentioned of linear analysis, I meant using Initial tension parameter instead of Unstressed length (which still enables Non-linear analysis).

Linear And Non-Linear cable analysis (and output data)

Hello I want to use STAAD cable analysis to analyze a cable (pinned support at both ends) having udl all over the span (20-30)m. I don't know the unstressed length (is it the length of cable before loads are applied?), so I think I can't do Non-linear analysis. So in this case would be the...

    Initial cable tension (few quesitons!)

Hello, I have some points that I want to verify regarding the initial tension of a cable. Consider a cable (pinned support at both ends) and want to have as minimum sag as possible. 1) Is that process (cable initial tension) similar to Precast slab Pre-tensioning? So the cable will have 'built...

Measuring tension in cables of Wind barrier structure supports fabric

hmmmm The cable is supporting the fabric, and the cable is connected to the column through two plates (the cable is in between them) attached to the column (consider cable is continuous). The sag in the cable is very small (Tensioned) I don't have the value of the tension, but I think half of...

Measuring tension in cables of Wind barrier structure supports fabric

Thanks a lot guys for the valuable information Regarding the point mentioned by rb1957 about the Uniform load on the column, I have taken a UDL = wind load x 2 x span between columns/2. And that load case will be used in addition with case of non-uniform load (developing lateral tension in the...

Measuring tension in cables of Wind barrier structure supports fabric

Thanks a lot everybody for the suggestions I should have written ("Calculate" instead of "Measure") The objective of calculating the Tension in the cable, is to design the columns such that it will not fail due to unbalanced tension developed when there is non-uniform wind load blowing into the...

Measuring tension in cables of Wind barrier structure supports fabric

Hello, I'm facing a problem in how to measure the tension developed in cables of Wind-barrier structure, that supports fabric cloth, I need it to control the tension that the cantilevered columns supporting the fence should handle without failing. The fence to be 15 meter high and covered...
