sbozy25,
Thanks for your comments. This helps give me some type of idea regarding mid-level management pay. What I find funny is they want to promote me from a Design engineer to this new position without ever telling me what the financial impact will be. Their response "more". Just trying...
Thanks for your tips, I have checked these sites and find them somewhat helpful.
Are their any engineering managers who manage between 3-5 Mechanical engineers willing to provide a salary range?
I have been with my current company for 3 years so I have the industry experience, but they want...
All interesting comments and well taken, thanks. While I do feel that the EE has much better self-marketing ability, I find it interesting/frustrating that management allows, protects, and even rewards such behavior. Not sure my next move will be except sit back and watch, take notes, and if...
Pardon the rant...but I have to find out how other companies value their engineers (person to person)? We are a small engineering department of 10 people, all mechanical engineers except one electrical engineer. The electrical guy, whom is a friend and I constantly call him he is high...
Screwman,
This post is dating back a bit and understand your frustration. I infact am guilty of asking our bolt manufacturer to help determine proper bolt torque tightening for each fastener we purchase from them.
Using T=KFD, we should be able to calculate all we need. However how do we...
Electricpete,
I can see only adding a few more details, like one time assembly or re-tightening considerations. Also what type of material the fastener will be used for instance steel or zinc. ALso additional materials like stainless steel, etc.
Did you create your calculator in an Excel...
Thanks Electricpete,
for your suggestions. I have basic formula's written out and need to put them into Excel or something. I was thinking a pull down menu listing all bolt sizes, K factors, etc., but that seems like a lot of typing.
Have any of you taken the time to create a recommended bolt torque calculator? I'm in planning stages of this project and looking for tips on how to create the data? I have found some good ones on line, but we would like to have our own in house.

Once I have added additional information to an Excel spreadsheet, I will share it through this thread if found useful. I will heed your advice about posting to a downloadable site instead of through email communication.
Thanks Again to all
Thanks to all that have given suggestions on where to find valuable information regarding torque values for various fastener sizes and materials. It sounds like my best bet it to create an excel spreadsheet, list all pertinent assumptions and post it in a location where other engineers can...
I have been tasked to create a centeral database for all fastner types and their torque values. This table should be specific as to the material with the threads, if oil is used or not, etc. Any ideas where to collect this type of information on the web, via a downloadable chart?
Looking for Basic Excel Testing sheet template to build several types of testing from. Those tests would include cycle testing, durability, etc.
Looking for a format and page layout that would work best, any ideas to download on the web appreciated.
Thanks!!
