Does anyone know how to anchor a part in an assembly after a step file conversion?
I've converted a vendor assembly from a step file and I'm trying to re-create constraints. However when I try mating two parts, both of the parts will move out in the workspace. I would like to anchor or fix one...
I actually found better help using the examples/tutorials in the application and if that doesn't help I go to this forum.
I have a collection of Unigraphics, Solidworks and Autocad books and all of them don't compare to the helpful tips in the "help" menu and eng-tips.com
You can copy the assembly file, rename it and work from there.
Example:
1) Copy and paste (ctrl-v) "assembly_one.sldasm" file
2) "Copy of assembly_one.sldasm" will appear
3) Rename the new file and then you can work from there while keeping the links.
Keep in mind you must work from the same...
If you have the UG Mold Wizard license, you can go to "hole report" function.
If you don't have that license, you can purchase custom software. http://www.ugsoftstore.com/hole_table_generator.asp
IMO It sucks to pay $$$ for UGNX and not get a useful feature like a hole chart.
Yes it doesn't make sense, you pay $$ for software and if it has bugs they need to fix it for free. Our company was stuck on SW2006 SP3.1 and I forgot to keep track on the subscription expiration date. We had to upgrade to SP5.0 and ended up paying for subscription and a late fee...
In NX3, is there a way to transfer seed part information to a converted .prt file from step? I've inherited hundreds of step files and I hate to add every layer and property from our company seed file after I convert them to .prt
I'm working several project on NX3 and NX4, due to client's request. However I'm seeing a difference in graphics performance with NX4 running better than NX3. Has anyone experienced a difference in performace between the two or do I need to adjust my graphics settings in NX3?

Everytime I convert a step file204 from UG to SW 2005 all the parts in the assembly and sub assembly remain unresolve. Is there a way to resolve them all at once. I tried resolving the top level, but it still leaves the rest unresolved.

I just called my UG reseller to get a demo of the Teamcenter Express. From looking at the description http://www.ugs.com/products/velocity/teamcenterexpress/ it looks like a good candidate for our company. It looks like PDMworks competitor. I'll post my opinions of it after the demo.
