Hi Everyone,
I am designing a precast concrete storage tank. My approach is to design a box culvert and then design two capping walls on each end. The walls will be capped using dayton superior splicing systems.
Anyone know a good procedure to calculate which bar splicer I should use? I'm...
Hi Everyone,
I finished designing a three sided culvert and wanted to know if anyone had an approach, method, or guide for checking the deflection.
I want to make sure the peak is adequate for no ponding on the structure.
Thanks!
Thanks for this input.
So, for this effort, it sounds like I need to calculate the worst case amount of water that will need to be processed by the system (separator, lines, etc.) before it discharges into the sewer. Then match this up with a suitable design to make sure it can handle the...
An architect wants to hire me to do the drainage plan for a car wash.
Does anyone know the tasks/items needed that are required to do a drainage plan for a double bay, automatic car wash?
Thanks a lot!
Thanks everyone for the great information! This is perfect.
So, to reduce liability, it falls on the engineer to document as much as possible, right?
I figure I can try and be as comprehensive as possible, so that the owners know that any problems were either there to begin with, or the...
Hi Everyone,
I just picked up a job that I wanted to bounce off you guys first before I just jump right in.
I'm tasked to complete a building condition survey. Anyone have any experience doing these? Anything I should really be looking for? These are circa 1880 buildings.
Thanks! Erik
Yeah, this will be an "upside" down U shaped culvert, set onto poured footers. The state wants to keep the natural streambed for supporting local trout populations.
I've integrated anchors to the top and sides of the culvert. Definitely going with a spreader bar to keep the lines vertical...
Hi Everyone,
I'm designing a 3 sided, precast culvert and want to make sure I design the lifting attachments correctly. Anyone got a good method already established to do the calculations to pick out the the correct lifting points/locations?
If possible, I would like to do this via hand...
Thanks guys!
I went with wl^2/8 for this effort. The precast company was good with it.
Yeah, it's under a parking lot with H-20 loading criteria.
Thanks again!
