    cohesive zone without cracks

Hi all, I had inserted an interface layer (INTER 20X) between two layers of different composite material to simulate exponential cohesive zone behaviour in ANSYS. Is it possible to use czm without any form of crack in ANSYS? I'm having troubles obtaining a smooth stress curve without a crack...

My new copy of ANSYS wont provide solutions!!

great that things work out for you :) it took me a long time to discover my problem as well i have the same idiotic feeling as well but i guess, it takes a lot of patience and time to understand ansys

My new copy of ANSYS wont provide solutions!!

i have limited knowledge of ansys as well. i just started using a few months back(switched from old version to 12.1 in december) because i use nodes (eg node x) to constraint my model, so, a check of the error file reveals certain nodes (node y) are insufficiently constraint. re-run-ing with...

    coordinates of INTERface elements

Hello all, Hope you can help me out with this I’m trying to mesh the interface of a cylindrical solid using CZMESH. I created a local cylindrical coordinate using CSWPLA,11,1, and mesh it using CZMESH,,,21,X,radial_location. But the INTER 20X mesh is not in the desired condition. Attached is...

My new copy of ANSYS wont provide solutions!!

hi, i'm facing the same problem as well on ansys 12.1. some of it i solve by changing the way i constraint the model as i realized that the nodes are numbered differently in different version of ansys. not sure if this comment is useful but maybe you can try and look at it kind regards, Ee Lian

    carbon/ epoxy orthotropic prepreg properties

Hi SWComposites I need the elastic modulus (Ex,Ey,Ez) Poisson's ratios (prxy, prxz, pryz) and shear modulus (gxy, gyz, gxz). Also the failure criteria values i can find some basic unidirection values in about.com but not all of the properties that i need are available Any help would be greatly...

    Correctly Modelling a Composite Cylinder

Hi Dave, I'm working on something like that too :) except that my model is orthotropic and rotating

    carbon/ epoxy orthotropic prepreg properties

Thanks for the comment. I did search that way before posting for help on the forum. Many results pop out but it all points back to a few articles which doesn't have the properties that i need. Thanks Kind regards, Ee Lian

    carbon/ epoxy orthotropic prepreg properties

Hello, I would like to find the material properties (values) for MR50/LTM25 carbon/ epoxy orthotropic prepreg necessary for my finite element work. It would be great if anyone can suggest to me which reference/ internet links/ books where i can find the material properties for carbon-epoxy...

    problem solved :) Thanks

    missing midside nodes

btw, my model is three nested ring cylinders. i'm trying to generate interface elements between those rings, ie two interface layers and three rings. sorry, i really suck in ANSYS. thanks in advance. hope that i'm providing enough details in my question :)

    missing midside nodes

Hi, I am trying to generate INTER20X elements using CZMESH commands. but i keep getting the error message "no cohesive element was generated between solid elements xxx and xxx (and possibly others) because of missing midside node(s) or other connectivity issues" i unselected my area mesh...
