Allen bradley L35E time synch with NTP GPS clock

Do you have one of the PanelView Plus terminals that lets you access the Windows CE desktop ? You might be able to have the PanelView Plus adjust its clock to the NTP server just by declaring the NTP server IP address as an "internet time source". Then you could use the FactoryTalk View ME...

Allen bradley L35E time synch with NTP GPS clock

Man, I wish. This is a feature I've been requesting from A-B for a long time but there just doesn't seem to be enough demand for them to implement it. A-B systems can take GPS time signals using backplane modules from HIPROM, but I've never seen a good implementation of NTP with a...

Read Tags from flex I/O using Devicenet with Rslogix5000??

Data is exchanged with the CompactLogix via the I/O image of the 1769-SDN Scanner module. The data that goes into each memory location is determined by the Scanlist Data Mapping, which is done in RSNetworx for DeviceNet. Once your data is mapped into the scanner, the DeviceNet Tag Generator...

    Legacy PLC-5 Processors

Solar Turbines was by far the largest user of ControlNet Phase 1.25 controllers, and since you're a power plant company I'm going to hazard the guess your controllers are part of a Solar Turbines system. ST is genuinely going to be the world's best source for these controllers: they have an...

In RXLogix 5000, why does it show t

I think it's most likely that you are looking at different revisions of RSLogix 5000; the I/O tree graphics evolved over the years. Since the 1756-L1 controller only goes up to v13, it's probable that you are running a more modern (v16 to v20) version of RSLogix 5000 with the 1756-L61 controller.

Updating a panelview thru the ML1400

I am guessing you mean a PanelView that is connected over a DF1 or DH485 serial connection to the MicroLogix 1400, which in turn is connected through its Ethernet port to an Ethernet network. The answer is no; MicroLogix controllers do not support any channel-to-channel passthrough functions.

What kind of timer for my lubrication project

I used the Micro 810 (12-point) controller for a small project last month. It was a very small program: four debounce timers for pushbuttons, and a simple set of logic for running a pair of diverter gates. I think I paid under $90 for the controller. I also purchased an LCD/Memory module as...

    ML1400 to PowerFlex VFD

Pins 1 and 8 don't come to the DB9 side of the 1761-CBL-PM02 because they are the +24VDC and DC Common pins on the MicroLogix 1000, 1200, and 1500 controllers. The 1763-NC01 is a compromise; only a fraction of the time will you be connecting directly to just one DSI port, so they went with...

    ML1400 to PowerFlex VFD

Since it's a MicroLogix 1400, use the Ethernet port for upload/download and troubleshooting. Far faster and easier than serial. The DH485 protocol you are using with the PanelView is different from the Modbus RTU protocol you need to use with the PowerFlex drives. Even though they both run...

What kind of timer for my lubrication project

The simple sequence of timers you're describing is an ideal application for a 'programmable relay'. The Siemens Logo! (yes, the exclamation point is part of the name), Crouzet Millenium, Moeller EZ (also sold by Eaton and A-B), the TECO SG2, and the A-B Micro 800 can get into the sub-$100...

SLC 500 and Micrologix 1200 compatible software

The ordinary RS-232/USB interface from Ind-Concepts.com has worked both with my Windows 7 Professional host computer and with my Windows XPSP3 virtual machine. I wouldn't use a Vista computer for any longer than it would take for me to find an unlocked dumpster. The A-B activation dongle...

    New to PLCs

It can't hurt to try ! Programming simple set of parallel conditions to trigger an output based on boolean (on/off) or analog threshold (temperature) inputs is extremely simple, and certainly the DirectLogic family are very low cost option for PLCs. There are a lot of experienced users out...

SLC 500 and Micrologix 1200 compatible software

The old "brick" style SLC-500 controllers have only a DH485 network port. Those require the use of a 1747-UIC module from Allen-Bradley. No other USB device will work with them. There are a few unauthorized imitators of the 1747-UIC, notably from ind-concepts.com. While I have not...

SLC 500 and Micrologix 1200 compatible software

You're right about the 15-pin connector; that's a VGA port. With USB/RS232 adapters, there is a huge difference between a $20 unit and a $40 unit. My absolute #1 recommendation is the USA-19HS from Keyspan (a subsidiary of Tripplite). I have used this with dozens of A-B controllers, Modbus...

SLC 500 and Micrologix 1200 compatible software

These are all good basic questions to ask of your local Rockwell Automation distributor, since they're the ones who will be selling you the software. Every RA distributor has at least one logic controller specialist per region whose whole job is selling and supporting these controllers and...
