Current 180 degrees out of phase with Voltage

What is the operating voltage 120/240 or 120/208 is this a single phase or three phase system or a European voltage system.

    Tie Breaker

Another thought many systems with tie-breakers and two utility transformer have two different grid feeds. If this is the case then the closure of the tie would cause a fault across the tie. Most systems with ties on the secondary side of the utility transformers is to provide a redundant source...

Need source of IR Imaging equipment / electrical scanning

I have seen the hioki unit it is nothing lik ea FLir, Micron, or electrophisics cameras contact one of the training companies sign up for a level I class and see what some real cameras can do. Here in the dallas area Office properties are our biggest customers im very busy about 7 months of the...

208 three pase to 220 two phase convert

If the Buck/Boost transformer was wired correctly are you sure it was sized for the load. This might explain why it worked but not correctly the transformer needs to be sized porperly for the connected load I do not remember the ratio but I bet someone will respond with it.

GFCI with 120V Receptacles in Hazardous Area

Installing the GFI protection is probibly your only choose because the GFI device breaks the current internally causing a spark i do not think you want this in your explosion proof area. If an explosion proof GFI is avilable. I bet the price far exceededs the inconvenience of resetting a GFI...

    Transformer wiring

Waross this high lights a problem that the NEC is trying to correct. The confussing use of ground, grounded and neutral the 3-phase system really by definition does not have a neutral only the single phase 240/120 has a neutral conductor. all that said waross is once again correct in that the...

    DC load switch

Im not sure what you location is thinker but most of the equipment manufactures (sq-D,Siemens,Eaton,G.E.) Can meet your needs I knife blade disconnects and breakers use on 500VDC systems all the time with UPS systems. I do agree a breaker may be a cheaper at the 400amp rating. check with your...

    Flir InfraCAM

I believe the infracams and lower cost units are good for in house inspections but you need to know the needs you have. If you need to perform Kiln or furnace inspection you may need a higher end camera. Also a major diffrence in low and higher priced cameras in the software interfaces...

Need source of IR Imaging equipment / electrical scanning

kyphil I am a level II thermogragher in the Dallas area when i started 8 years ago my company gave my a IR camera and told me to go perform a survey i didnt get proper training for about a year by that time i had learned from mistakes and practice for the most part what i was doing. now after...

Is it possible to bypass locking software in UPS systems?

lkmunsie all of the major UPS manufactures have locked diagnostic and event data logging in thei systems i havent worked with any that dont. Other post about lawsuits are correct the third party service companies are building interfaces or hacking the manufactures software and systems and being...

    megger readings?

I agree for the cost of the motor or the motor repairs it it would be best to remove the motor from service. here is a link to a Megger article about salvaging water damaged equipment. http://www.megger.com/us/publications/etarticle.php?aid=21&pid=18&Description=

preventing accidental charging of alkaline batteries

The dual battery type devices i have. Use a propritary rechargable battery type but allow for alkalines with a secodary battery post which is not part of the charging circuit. I think many others have tried to over come this problem also and the trouble is making it idiot proof. BTW the device...

    metering a 3phase splitter

here are some meter manufactures i have never worked with 600v meter you may need to use a Potential transformer to lower the voltage to work with a watt hour meter. but check with the diffrent manufactures too see what products they have and what fits your needs. I am sure there are many more...

    Bus bar separation

Just a comment from a field electrician but the minimun spacing requirement for arc gap protection listed in the NFPA and NEC and do not take in to consideration protection during fault conditions most manufactures use greater distances to provide phase contact protection during equipment...

    Extending 650VA UPS discharge time.

Archor123 I agree with the comments above you will burn up the rectifier in your UPS because its only rated to charge the battery sized with the unit. you could use a 12vDC booster battery made for jumpstarting cars and a inverter. i have used this setup to run a laptop and equipment for up too...
