Hello,
For sizing a relief valve (surge anticipator) in a water supply pipeline i am using the next formulae:
Q = 2 x g x H / a x v
where
Q = flow to discharge
g = gravity
H = normal head
a = celerity
v = velocity of the flow
Depending the value of Q and knowing the Cv of the valve, i...
i am looking a basket strainer for a project with clean water, with minimum head loss for a DN1300 pipe. Any suggestion of manufacturers??
Thanks in advance.
Hi guys,
I would like to calculate the loss of head in a 20" foot valve for a velocity of the fluid (water) about 1.2 m/s.
The most important factor are the losses in the screen retainer (i suposse), so should be interesting to know any kind of chart for calculate the losses depending the...
I´m looking information about some studies of vibration of hydraulic structures made by KOLKMAN, P A, edited by Elsevier Publishers in 1984. I think that Delf Laboratories worked with this man some yeras ago.
Where can i get books of this author?

The information we have in this moment is:
The main pipe size: 40 "
Length: 580 m
Elevation difference: 82 m
Fluid density and viscocity: water 20ºC
Type of valve: globe
Drain pipe size: the same of the valve we choose
Do you think we can drain the pipeline in less of 1 hour?
i need to calculate the size of the draining valves for a pipeline. can anybody help with formulae?? usually we project a size of 8 inches but i want to check the criteria of this value.
