We're trying to do that, but it doesn't want to install for some reason. I'm sure if the IT guy ever gets around to it, it'll get installed, i'm just trying to get it done withouth waiting on them.

We have some old files that were done in Inventor and are saved in .ipj format. Nobody has inventor on their machine any more, so we need to get these files into .dwg format or something we can work with. Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about doing that?
I've never worked with CAD...
Not using any flux.
I'm aware of the zinc fume thing. We weld a lot of galvanized steel here.
Tried google, but most of what I'm getting is sites for companies that do zinc casting, not any info on the how-to side.

I want to make some prototype parts in the lab using zinc. What I'd like to do is take my existing part, cast it into some kind of media and be able to pour molten zinc into it.
I know this is a VERY rudimentary set-up, but I don't really have the means (or expense) to machine a die to cast...
If the wool insulation is like fiberglass insulation, you shouldn't need much adhesive strength. Reason is, the insulation doesn't have much cohesive strength, so it will tend to pull iteself apart before breaking the adhesive bond.

I don't have a centerless, it's just a wire wheel on bench grinder. It's not that slow, just too easy to miss a spot!
Also, cost of the equipment is something of an issue for me. A small blast cabinet wouldn't be very expensive.

BillPSU: The paint I'm referring to is the dot matrix print identifying the pipe manufacturer, size, etc. The 'coating' may only be a draw compound, but I still need to get down to shiny steel for the parkerizing to work! The tubing is 1-7/8" OD x 1-3/4" ID.

I have a product that is made of 1 7/8" x 4" DOM carbon steel tubing with a machined bushing welded into one end. It has 3 8-32 threaded holes in it. I am looking for a way to efficiently remove the mill coating and paint from the DOM steel so that I can apply a phosphate (parkerized) finish...
Take everyone out for a day of playing paintball. Team work takes on new meaning when you're getting shot at.
And shooting at each other should help to work out any personal frustrations.

We have a Rockford Ram Hardness tester in our shop, model 30-R. The rollformer line operators use it to check the hardness of our steel (mostly galvanized). It's never been calibrated to my knowledge but the operators know what the usable range is.

Thanks to everyone who replied. We ended up having representative from our insurance company come in and evaluate the situation. With the dust collection system I have in place, they felt there was no need for respirators. I agreed, and so does the mixer operator!

I need a test that my warehouse people can do in the plant to distinguish between galvanized and galvanneal. We use copper sulfate to identify zinc coatings, but it doesn't tell between galvanized and galvanneal very well. Is there another way to test for galvanneal that can be done on the...
In our water-based sealant production, 50lb bags of Talc are added to our mixer. We currently have a dust collector ducted into the lid of the mixer. When the bags are emptied into the mixer, the mix tank is under slight negative pressure, so any dust is sucked into the tank. We also have a...
