Strength to maximum pressure rating
Sorry, to clarify, I'm talking about natural gas T&D in the United States. So with that in mind, I'm considering "cold" pressure. ANSI 300 valves are rated for 720 cold working pressure; we order the valves to be shell tested to 1.8*720=1296. The code I'm referring to is 49 CFR 192.619.- dsdtdemon
