Thanks you for your answers, the gasket is under compression.. I believe it is just a cosmetic issue but our customer is concerned. thank you for your idea of a lip, this may help.

All:
As a manufacturer, we currently use Nitrile as a gasket material for a submersible piece of equipment. One of the pieces of gear shows some cracking (<2 years in service), however, still holds the seal.
A couple of questions:
1). Is Nitrile a good choice....the equipment is not...
Can I use Isopropyl alcohol to clean particle contaminants to prevent tracking? it is 15kV gear. Does anyone have better suggestions? seems like I cannot use denatured alcohol due to toxic safety.
Guys,
We make a SST part by welding a SST tube to a pad, we continous weld the tube on both sides. The volume is not high enough to justify a cast tool at this point. The customer requests a one piece construction , I would like to know if the welded is just a strong as the cast? and any data...
Could someone help me with a circuit to duplicate 3 phase from 120VAC single phase. It does not have to be accurate but I would like to show some real "dummy" values for voltage and current. Can this be done. I have a small transformer that I dupe 2 voltages but being a mech . engineer not...
This site is great, thank you all for your help. I did find the original specs for the motor. Mechanically, the motor I recieved looks great, just a matter of power. I found this table. Is this all I need to insure that I have a duplicate?
I have a table listing the amps, watts input, rpm...
He mentioned that the motor is energized for 1/2 second per breaker closure, with a max. of 2 closures per minute.
How would I measure the output torque of the old motor, under its load?
General Question from a mechanical engineer:
I have a motor that I have been using for many years and now is being discontined. I have a source in China that I sent the motor too to duplicate. Recieved the new one but it does not electrically function the same. One of the technicians sent...
Thanks for all of your help, it looks like a generator is the way to go. This test is for magnetic reaction around equipment. One engineer stated this about looping welding cable around the bus bar, do you guys agree?
"It doesn't make sense to me based upon my college days as well as a few...
Your assumption is correct on the saturation of the copper. Out of the two CT's we were able to push only 900A at 277V. The CT's are rated 400V, so we could have gotten more out of them, but not even close to the 7000A we are looking for.
The time restraint is 90 seconds.
We have gathered...
Our customer wants a magnetic field around some bus bars for testing. Could anyone help me with advice on how to do this. I have some 10,000:5 C.T.s....could I push 5 amps into them and if so, at what voltage...could I use a variac to adjust the field level?
thanks
I'm going to use (2) 1.5 VAC batteries, the source would be constant. I was thinking using a small relay with a NC contact while the coil is energized to run a timer. When the battery dies the contact open and stops the timer. This is probably too simple and I'm missing several key points...
Does anyone know how I can use a digital timer to stop when a battery source is depleted in a simple electrical circuit. I would like to add a certain load and use a timer to determine when the battery dies. Being a mech. engineer, I would greatly appreciate any help and recommendation on a timer.
