I want to design the cylinder made solely from frame (no skin) to connect two different cylinderical sections. The major loading conditions are axial compression and bending moments. Can anyone give me good refrence for designing such type of structure.
Most of the mechanical properties about elastomers(or rubber) are available in the form of Hardness. I want the shear strength of the elastomer,is it possible to calculate such mechanical properties (strength and modulus) from the hardness? If yes from where i can find ther relations.

I want to know how to find the strength of adhesive joint between metal polar boss and composite in filament wound vessel. which adhesive i should use if i am using carbon-epoxy system. and how to define its thickness between them.

Do i need to use Ad^2(cyl.), since I(cyld)=(PI/64)*(Dou^4-Din^4), give I at its center.

What i understand from your answer, is that for symmetrical case (as that of stiffened cylinder), y=Radius of cylinder for thin cylinder and y=distance from center of cylinder to outer edge of flange for stiffner. is it true?
Also, i have 'I' for stiffners at their centroid...

There are good realation available in SP 8007, but they are realated to symmetric laminate.
