Adiabatic cooling of air CD Nozzles???

Great input guys thanks. I'm going to look into CD nozzles a bit more, and think about maintaining the temp drop as much as possible. I'm thinking of combining two or more techniques to try and reduce the air temperature. I'm hoping strategic use of cooling fins might yield positive resuls...

Adiabatic cooling of air CD Nozzles???

Thanks Latexman. I don't have a thermo book. What formulae did you use to give you 27.4 Deg?

Adiabatic cooling of air CD Nozzles???

My apologies for double posting. I didn't realise it was a no no. So btrueblood you think its possible to cool to 5 deg c with a CD nozzle then. That is interesting. That seems a lot of cooling with a dp of only 0.5 barg. Time to get one in and run some test then I feel

Adiabatic cooling of air CD Nozzles???

Can anybody enlighten me please!!!!!! How much air cooling is possible through a convergence divergence nozzle. I am trying to cool compressed air from 35 Deg C to around 5 Deg C. Is this possible through a CD nozzle with an air flow of around 50 LPM and a pressure of 5 barg. I have a...

oxidative attack of GF nylon components

not much of any metals in analysed condensate. 8ppm pottasium, is that high? copper 0.07 ppm..!!

oxidative attack of GF nylon components

I don't know what the green is Pud!! It's PA66. Why would green indicate water take up? There is a lot of copper in the system so could the green be from the copper. The surface is not so much crystaline, we are going to visit moulders to go through their process settings.

oxidative attack of GF nylon components

There are also natural coloured unfilled nylon components in the system. These do not degrade like the GF nylon, but the surface cracks up a lot like crazy paving, and turns GREEN

oxidative attack of GF nylon components

The components are still required to be used with oil. A change in material type is last option due to different shrinkage rates, resulting in expensive tool mods. What could attack nylon so badly. Am i overlooking something? Apparantely no ozone present. There is copper in the system which...

oxidative attack of GF nylon components

That sounds logical Demon3. The problem i have is that 30% glass filled nylon components are becoming so degraded they can easily crumbled between your fingers. The temp is no higher than 65 degrees c. The components are only in service 6 months. There is water present. These components...

    oxidative attack of polyamide components

Yes EdStainless reverse osmosis water used in the cooling, and any water from the atmospheric air that the compressor sucks in. The max temp within the system is 65 degrees c

oxidative attack of GF nylon components

Is it possible that the removal of a lubricating oil containing antioxidant additives may give rise to the nylon components within the system suffering oxidative attack. What i'm trying to say is........do the antioxidant additives in lubricant oil also act as an antioxidant film that...

    oxidative attack of polyamide components

Unclesyd, Could you give a little more info about the synthetic oil additive removal issue you know of?

    oxidative attack of polyamide components

Thanks for that TV, Would an oil film covering the nylon component not offer any oxidation resistance then? I have a problem of nylon components that are basically so degraded that they crumble after only 6 months in service. The same components have been used for years in an oil lubricated...

Copper chloride corrosion of GFN 30%

Does anybody have any experience of glass filled nylon 30%, being degraded by copper chloride. The GFN components are basically turning so soft you can crumble them between your fingers. I have an application where there purified water is used as a coolant. The purified water is chlorinated...
