Constructive advice on a different method of pipe connection.

Thanks for your comments moltenmetal. I have also wondered why not just use an oring or the like as an alternative to flex gaskets in some installations. This however only addresses part of what trying to achieve. As well depending on the application it may not easy to install such as sliding...

Using an accumulator for thermal relief.

We have liquid manifold systems that are periodically isolated. To protect from thermal expansion the systems are relieved thru a relief valve to a sump or across an isolating valve to downstream. I am curious whether anyone has used a hydraulic accumulator for this purpose.

Constructive advice on a different method of pipe connection.

Hello BigInch, appreciate your interest The attached should give a larger view of the drawing. Keep in mind the the dimensions don't really mean anything. In answer to your first question. Partial purpose is to minimize piping stress induced by flange tightening. As well the labor involved when...

Constructive advice on a different method of pipe connection.

I have been toying with a different concept for joining pipe conduits. My original objective was to improve on raised face flange connections as they can introduce much stress in the piping system and associated equipment. A typical flex gasket when crushed between faces requires approximately...

    looking for flexible pipe connector

The sketch primarily indicates the sealling method only. However in viewing the sketch, elonging the travel in the pocket (machined recess)and elonging as well the ring provides the allowed axial movement. Of course the piping conduit needs to be supported. Method of doing this depends on the...

    looking for flexible pipe connector

Am new to the forum. i see can do one attachement at a time. The attached is a brief description. Can also provide some pictures. Note that the sealling principal is similar to that utilized in a mechanical shaft seal or floating valve seat. In these applications the sealling environment is much...

    looking for flexible pipe connector

Have attached some pictures and brief description: The main advantages as I see are: 1) Bolting stress is minimized. As a test I loose bolted (ie. finger tight) with only 4 bolts versus 8. Introduced approximately 1/8" misalignment across the faces and pressured to 1500 psi. It held bubble...

    looking for flexible pipe connector

I am aware of a flexible pipe connector design that is generally an expansion joint. The design is good for virtually any size and pressure rating (up to 10,000 psi. Please advise if still looking for something and can forward some information. This product is however not currently available on...
