    Soooooo sloooowwwwww

Has any one any experience with running NX on one of the BOXX systems that usually tests at the top in NX performance? The last comparison I saw was in Desktop Engineering with a BOXX system configured at about a $6000 price point. Sorry I don't have the specific specs readily available. I am...

Best practice for assembly reference set

Here goes... I am trying to build my assemblies with all components set to the Model reference set. The only thing that I miss are the component coordinate systems. I often use the default coordinate planes and axis to constrain my components in the assembly. Soo, I have been adding the...

Modifying Detail Views which have been moved to a different sheet

Found the answer. Right click on detail view boundary. Select View Boundary. Select Reset. Select boundary again and drag boundary circle to desired size. Good old trial and error. I am using 7.5.2.5 NATIVE on Dell with windows XP OS

Modifying Detail Views which have been moved to a different sheet

Do I have to move a detail view back ot the sheet of its parent view in order to modify it? For example if I need to move the anchor point or change the size of the area that is depicted. Thanks, I am using 7.5.2.5 NATIVE on Dell with windows XP OS

Use of Model Reference set in assemblies

I was searching the forum for info on lightweight reference sets and I came across something posted by John Baker that I hope to get some clarification on. John's quote follows: "As for Reference Sets, Load Options should be set to Model. If you've created your Sub-Assemblies correctly, that...

    Using arrangements for large assemblies

John, I thought I was following your suggestions. Use master model and arrangements. I will try "hide components in view". My goal is to be able to manipulate the assembly model file and drawing file for the purpose of creating a layout without excessive time spent waiting for my computer to...

    Using arrangements for large assemblies

I continue to work on getting a usable drawing layout using arrangements to suppress components not required for the drawing views. I felt like I was making progress. I created "minimal" arrangements at various assembly levels to suppress un-necessary componets. I created separate files for my...

    Using arrangements for large assemblies

Now I know I am going to get some flack for this. I have followed strong suggestions that I should be using master model technic for my drawings. BUT I am also looking at all other non-master model options so that when and if I try to sell the master model technic to management I will be able to...

Inconsistancy in finding subassemblies at different assembly levels

I don't understand why I am getting the result I am. I have subassembly A. I can open this part file and it loads OK. I now close all pats and load the next higher assembly which includes subassembly A as a component. In this case subassembly A can not find some of its components. If it finds...

Done the Search, But Still Need Large Assembly Advice...

If I create an arrangement which suppresses selected components in the assembly and some of these components have linked features, will features in other non-suppressed parts which rely on those links fail? I am using 7.5.2.5 NATIVE on Dell with windows XP OS

    Drawing contain assembly or not?

Ben, Use of separate files is going to be a tough sell at my company. I have to become well versed in the benefits for our specific situation. Maybe you can elaborate some on the master model benefits. But first let me say that we have a small engineering department of about 4 engineers and...

    Using arrangements for large assemblies

I do hear what everyone is saying. I will create a master model drawing of the top level layout assembly and some of the component assemblies. Once I have a working example I can then try to sell master modeling for drawings to the engineering department manager. I am using 7.5.2.5 NATIVE on...

    Using arrangements for large assemblies

John, I certainly have been listening to the periodic and regular recommendations for use of master model techniques. We do use it for our CAM setup files. However till now most of the reasons to implement it for our drawings have not strongly applied to our relatively small engineering...

    Using arrangements for large assemblies

looslib, Thank you for your response. Retrieving the whole model is what I want to avoid. The update times are excessive and I occassionally run out of memory. I am using 7.5.2.5 NATIVE on Dell with windows XP OS

    Using arrangements for large assemblies

I thought I had a solution to creating equipmemt layouts that would not overtax my workstation. My layouts show how several pieces of equipment are located in a production line and the location for air, electrical and chilled water drops. I decided to create an arrangement for all the major...
