Does anybody know where I can find a table of recommended torque values for screw assemblies in plastic? I had one at one time but lost it after a computer burnout. My specific application is an ABS cabinet where I'm assembling various metal and plastic components to it. I have calculated some...
Thanks to all - a lot of good info here! Some answers, additional points:
1 Already tried auto-explode without success. I kinda knew it wouldn't work anyhow.
2 I forgot to mention that I did not fix the hardware so whan I auto-explode, fasteners are the only items that move.
3 Unfortunately...
Any opinion on "fixing" components in assemblies versus mating them? Most of my mated parts show up as under defined in the feature tree but seem to be placed correctly. Once I fix them they aren't going anywhere. Now the boss wants an exploded assembly of the 100+ part model. Am I right that I...
Is there a way to "clean up" a model in Solidworks 2004 to reduce file size? I've been working of a couple of plastic models that were bought in as STEPped imported bodies and have grown to 40-50 meg files (they started as 6-10 meg). Seems to me that there must be a bunch of junk that I should...
Thanks to all - it seems all answers are directed to SW Explorer. I'll keep that in mind although I accidentally found another method that seems to work.
Originally I opened the model and immediately did a "save as" and checked the "copy" box with the new revision extension. I accidentally...
Is there a way to change model association in a drawing feature tree (SolidWorks 2004)? The new company that I'm working for likes to change file names for existing models that are revised. I've saved both model and drawing under the revised filename but can't seem to figure out how to get the...
A couple of times a day, my Solidworks (2004) will shut down in the middle of a process and return an "unhandle error" fault. What does this mean? Is the anything I can do to prevent this (and losing work)?
Thanks - Dave
Thanks Scott - the surfacing aspect makes sense to me. I'm updating a model that came to me from a consulting firm as a dumb solid. Seems the company modeled in Pro-E (supposedly due to Pro-E's higher surfacing capabilities) then translated into SolidWorks. I'm trying to match surface contours...
I am a new SolidWorks user that recently joined a company as their first mechanical engineer. I entered the company to the following hardware:
1Gig AMD Athelon, 1M Ram, NVidia Vanta graphics, 16" monitor.
My primary responsibilities here will be plastic design with substantial surfacing and...
