    The answer to the question is they are there to clamp. The slots weaken that area somewhat so the material will move enough to allow the bolts to pinch the holes tighter. I guess that is what you were asking.

    Syncronizer wear

    I suppose it is possible. So is the torsional damper on the rebuilt engine new? How do you measure the vibrations? Most trucks that I have been around use nonsyncronized transmissions because they are a number one wear item especially with such high torques to deal with.

    So what is the size of the vehicle? What kind of loads are on the output shaft of the transmission? Is it a large earth moving machine or a race car? There are many transmissions that have been designed for most all applications. Why reinvent the wheel?

    No load on engine and torque?

    If the measuring device is not loading the engine then it would essentially read zero. So yes output is zero. Internally still takes torque and power to move the mechanical parts and the air.
