And you computer was just upgraded to Win2K? What the heck was it before? Ya'll know that this...
Tim,
I would NOT hesitate from getting Win XP Pro (NOT Home) on the new system. As for the video card, if you are strapped for cash, get the best nVidia Chipset Quadro4 card you can afford.
Mr. Pickles
Just how big is you monitor(s)?
Like SBaugh stated, you are missing a LOT of improvements to stick with an old interface. Everytime somebody changes the interface of anything, they get hate mail, email, phone calls, etc.
I think AutoCAD DOS versions were cool. Why did they chnage to Windows...
It appears like you are using NT4.0? If so, you do have service pack 6 on there too right? And the Virus checker wasn't running right?
I didn't use the CD that SW sent, as I did it the old published way of putting the PW stuff on there, and then doing the SW sp update. Worked for me.
Mr. Pickles
bns75,
You can still ask your qestions. There are a bucket full of long-term folks here who know a whole lot about SolidWorks, whether they teach it or not...
Mr. Pickles
Nvidia's are the best for SolidWorks, and others too. And you are correct in your assumption of SW loving the Nvidia Quadro chipset. They do OpenGL better than anyone it seems.
If you are buying a new card, make it a Nvidia Quadro 4 something. You'll be happier down the road...

Mr. Pickles
Pat,

Everybody with SW 2003 has gone through it, more than likely. You DON'T want to make the jump DURING a major project.
You DO want to make BACKUP's of ALL your SW part, assembly, drawing files, since the switch WILL make the files no-readable with 2001, in case you need to go back.
We didn't...
Yogibear,
In your Assembly, under "Options/Document Properties", you can set the Assembly Color. In the Color section, there is 2 choices. One is the shaded color, which in your case is Black. Change it to something pleasing.
Want it to do it all the time, change the setting in your...
Yogibear,
If in your assembly, the face is NOT transparent, but in your model, it IS transparent, then try this...
In the Assembly, right-click the part in question. Select "Component Properties". Select "Color". Pick "Remove Color" (red, green & Blue go to...
