The solid is already in 2 pieces. I don't know why the 2 pieces look disconnected, but act like the same body. I have included a picture to explain my problem a little further. The smaller piece at the bottom needs to be deleted or hidden somehow.

There is one option in Catia where you can cut a body along a line or plane, and see one half, and when you move the cutting line/plane up or down, the cut section grows or diminishes. I hve used this b4, but can't remember how to turn it on. Can somebody please help, Thanks

left mouse down, drag a rectangle and release left mouse...... everything becomes orange. left click+ctrl on particular part called cylinder.Catpart, then hit hide/show icon at bottom toolbar, everything disappears, including cylinder
