i use a dell laptop with the wide screen pushing 1680x1050 running LDD and have no problems. colors look good it can be a little slow but thats if i have a few tools running transparent. i like it better that a crt.
make sure you remove autocad completly from the computer. when you go to reinstall make sure you have administrative privilages. that should work.

these two links should set you straight. if they don't work your arg files may be corrupt, and you will need to replace them.
