1.7225 just (like 4140) defines only chemical composition.
V defines mechanical properties in QT condition (V in German = QT in English).
Mechanical properties are defined in material or product standard.
You should know original standard to find substitute.
For example:
If your material is...
WQT is permissible/valid if it is specified by purchase order. Look at Suplementary Requirements.
Impact test requirements at -29°C is beyond standard condition for ASTM A216 WCB material.
To achieve it can be tricky for thicker parts in normalized only condition.
The vendor offered you a way...
Hello,
is there any significant difference between heat treatment of 13% and 18% Mn steels?
Severals years ago, I had a discussion with specialist from local Metso foundry and he told me, that temperatures are the same, but 18% Mn steels are more sensitive to speed of quenching.
At that time I...
You can look at ISO/TR 14745 Welding - Post-weld heat treatment parameters for steels.
There is some info about holding time and temperature, multiple heating cycles, Hollomon-Jaffe parameter and so on.
Would not there be a problem with different heat treatment for these materials?
880°C + cooling on still air versus 1040°C + water or rapid air cooling?
There really could be reported aluminium content in casting if analyzed area sits just under some bigger riser (300+ mm).
Aluminium segregates to areas which solidify last so if it gets enough time there could be easily 0,010-0,020% difference to laddle sample (or even to sample taken from...
Is it even possible to get some good impact energy with so high titanium content? There must be so many that nice pink sharp edged titanium nitrides that miscrostructure must look like kaleidoscope.
Hello,
our customer sent us new supply specifications in which he demands following:
Test report on graphite formation
o Form of graphite
o Quantity (%) of graphite form in each case
o Nodularity index (%)
o Nodule density per cm²
o Quantity (%) of ferrite/perlite
o Nodule size of graphite
All...
2.2.25 INTERVAL: The calendar time between 2 tests or calibrations. Examples include: week or weekly requires the due date is the same day in the following week – a span of 7 calendar days; month or monthly to indicate the next test occurs on the same numerical day in the following month. If the...
According to my old copy of DIN 17100(1980) -1, -2, -3 are so called Gütegruppes (Quality groupes?) and there are differences by type of steelmaking(-1 Thomas process) or desoxidation, chemistry, elongation, CVN requirements.
In DIN 17100 there is only St70-2.
St70-2 should be todays E360...
Problem solved. We are in transportation and power generation industry so we had access to TPG only, not NADCAP(aerospace). After request PRI granted us the access to aerospace industry so now we are able to see HT Handbook and Guide. I am looking forward to useful informations.
Thank you. I tried throught our company username and password, but I cant see any handbooks in Heat Treating section. I can only see handbooks and guidelines in Welding section. Is it possible, that there is some restricted acces?
