    Were 60's Chevelle front wheel spindles heat-treated?

    They are a two piece design. I made several trailer axles by cutting the knuckle with a band saw to the edge on the spindle. Then you can press out the spindle. Many would slide out by hand.     How effcient are current automatic transmissions

    I have just read that the Chrysler 904 Torque Flite is one of the most effcient automatic transmissions in use. Is this true? How is this tested? Are automatics still 4% to 6% less effcient than a manuel transmission? Michael dadof275103

    Cory Thank you for the prompt reply. It just seemed odd to me the big Lincolns, BMW, MB, etc, having 5 lugs then the smaller 1/2 ton trucks having 6wheel lugs. Michael

    Why so many wheel studs?

    What is the driving force in the increase number of wheel studs a car or truck has? I have seen single lug racing wheels (for speed in changing),a three lug, 4 lug, 5 lug, now the migration is to 6 lug wheels. Why ? or is this just a "fashion" trend. Thanks Michael
