I'll probably be banned for this, but I really beleive the situation goes both ways... I have worked with engineers who wait untill the last minute a job is due, then will unload fifty or so drawings and expects them to be done in two days, or they try to mark up 11x17 prints, and make the...

    Crower Six Stroke Engine

According to the article the engine does not use any external cooling system, which I thought would mean any weight gained by the water tank would be loss by the reduction of the entire cooling system. I know years back that Crower Cams was one of the premier designers in camshaft technology...

Is there a way to "lock" a .dwg file so it can't be modified?

You could always convert the dwg to a pdf file and still view it in either autocad or adobe, there's a site with shareware software @ www.pdf995.com. Hope this helps.. Don

Do you draw on the 0 'zero' layer?

I would say that it all depends on what the customer wants.. Most clients have their own layering standards. The client that we do work for does not want anything drawn on "0" layer, but that is not to say that is the case with all clients.

    Date stamp with user's name

I forgot to mention, the reason that we don not use the plotstamp feature in Autocad is that they like having the name and date information physically in the file as a way to verify the markup matches the file. Thanks again, Don

Who is to blame for US outsourcing

Personally I think that outsourcing has alot of similarities to the dockside(trickle down) economic theory. Which makes me believe it favors the Republican viewpoint. It looks like outsourcing is going to benfit only the upper tax bracket by giving them another source of cheap labor. It also...

I have worked in the power industry for over the past ten years, albeit a lonely designer, but in the industry never the less. I was laid off for the second...
