    Why CAD is expensive

From the article: "The cost of CAD is mainly inflated to the price we think it’s worth to our business. " wow do I disagree with that one. As a beta tester and tech support for a major cam program, the development and testing that goes into the software is phenomenal. All that for a relative...

server busy / switch to or retry

Thanks for the tips guys, I think I figured it out. I always disable a bunch of startup programs in msconfig. Turning off SWboengine seems to have been the culprit. Re-enabling it solved the issues. Now I'm having some problems opening files from 06'. Computer just hangs. :(

Hi all, Two dimension questions- 1) I imported all my model dimensions into a drawing, however when cleaning them up and re-arranging I inadvertently deleted a few. Can I re-import only select dimensions? 2) I know it's a major faux-pa, but is their any way to dimension hidden lines...

    cannot save assemblies

Sorry, 3ghz p4. 3mhz would be really funny. :o) Got any good recommendations on overclocking instructions/tips? MotherBoard Intel 865PERL. I really can't complain about my system, it has been rock solid for all the years I've had it. A while back I hacked my 4200ti to supposedly perform...

    cannot save assemblies

Ok, you guys are gonna laugh at my system. 3.0 mhz 1gb ram gforce 4200ti No recent graphic driver updates about 40g free space out of a 120 hd. 3d spaceball add-in. again old skool, 4000 flx. system maintained well (it needs all the help it can get). clean temp files, regular defrags, etc...

    cannot save assemblies

Update! It works! Performed the import export wizard to export my settings. Backed up my reg. settings, then deleted the solidworks entry. Restarted SW and it rebuilt registry with default values. Saving an assembly now would work! Unfortunately I lost all my toolbars and such, I used...

    cannot save assemblies

Thanks fellas, Yes even the most basic assembly will not save. That's heading me down the road of a software issue, versus a hardware issue. Also it used to work. System is indeed a bit older, 3.0 mhz 1gb ram. I'll try the recommended procedure of rebuilding the reg. files. I did however...

    cannot save assemblies

Hello all, Running 06' sp3 here. (desperately wish we could afford to upgrade to 08/09). I cannot save an assembly. SW just hangs and freezes upon trying to save. I have to task manager and force quit. For the past several years I've been ok, but recently not. I can't ascertain any windows...

blend 2 parts in an assembly

Hello, I've got a wing and a fuselage as seperate parts. I'm trying to create a nice fat fillet to join them. So far I've created a new part within the assembly, and joined the fuselage and wing. Then made the fillet between the two. How now do I break out out the wing again, with the...

    solid to sheet metal

Yes there are some curved faces that need to be flattened. Thanks for the link to those nice examples. It's funny there are so many nifty sheet metal tools and features, which one tends to associate with true "sheet metal" .025-.125 thicknesses and ideology. However alot of the heavier...
