I occasionally use intersection curves in Sketcher to create curves at the intersection of my Sketcher Plane and faces of my solid. The problem I'm experiencing is that when I make a change to the solid body the intersection curve jumps from the Sketch layer to whatever the work layer is at the...
I've noticed an issue when extruding with offset. When applying a user created expression with the symmetric offset option the expression is not retained, it just reverts to the numeric value. This is the case whether I'm extruding a single curve or a closed shape. Since I use this method...
Hi John,
I found by bringing the component into the assembly using 'original layer' setting the Datum CSYS that gets created stays on the same layer as in the component. This solves my issue.
Thanks again for your time.

Hi John,
Thanks for your quick reply.
I guess I wasn't specific enough about the coordinate system creation. What I meant was the coordinate system was created using the dynamic method which allows you to manually move it about as opposed to specifying absolute CSYS for creation method. The...
John,
I've constructed a simple deformable part based on your washer example in this thread. While using a dynamic coordinate to condtruct the component allows me to reposition the deformed component in the assembly, it also creates a coordinate system which shows in the drawing. I found I am...
Check to make sure all the entities in your sketch are in the same plane. If explicit geometry was added to the sketch it's possible that every element does not lie in the same plane which will cause your extrusion to produce a sheet.

Normally it always works the way Jaydenn mentioned in the above post, but for some odd reason it started requiring a terminating object and would not allow me to create without a leader. Simply hitting the reset button solved the problem.

In the top of the identification symbol dialog box there is a reset button. Looks like a half circle with an arrow. Click this button and then try placing your symbol on the drawing.

After comparing my spring with the one submitted by mmauldin (bioengineer) I realized what my mistake was. When generating the Z-law with my Sketch curves I neglected to establish a base line for the law defined spline. Now it works perfect.
Thanks again to those who took the time to reply to my...

Thanks for your replies to my post.
I’ve tried removing the datum planes and the trimming operation and I still have the failure.
Here’s how I created the spring.
I start with a file which has the three primary datum planes. Next I create my expressions to generate...
