Try to model it as a tension member element only.
I have modeled one of those.
But, one problem is that these braces still carry compression though i have modeled it as a tension element only-(compression limit=0).
you may see also my post above.

I have modeled a interconnected steel towers with vertical and horizontal x-bracings.
I have defined these x-bracings with a compression limit=0 using the "T/C limit" feature by SAP2000
My design analysis shows that these vertical and horizontal oriented braces were "still" designed for...
I work on SAP2000.
basically the definition of features are almost the same with ETABS.

Dear all,
Can SAP2000 perform check and design of nonprismatic concrete columns?
i have performed it for steel columns but i just cannot perform the modeling correctly for concrete columns.
thanks in advance!!

V14 vs. V8
1.)
I modeled a simple howe truss in SAP V.14 and compared it with SAP V.8.
i only have released the moments(M2&M3) for the diagonal and vertical members of the truss, having my top and bottom cord with no moment releases.
SAP v. 8 analysis results does not show any WARNINGS.
but...

thank you for your reply.
i use v14.
I need to verify how does Sap2000 approach for these value for nonprismatic steel columns. i have modeled a moment frame and my model shows value of k=2.703(major) and k=1.150(minor).
I have already verified the output of sap 2000 for prismatic...
How does SAP2000 calculates (I/L) in nonprismatic columns for the calculation of the effective length k factors.
You may see Chap. 2 p.13 design algorithms of SAP2000.
thanks..!!
Good day!
I am modeling a 4.4mx4.4m steel braced frame tower like structure, 25m high, with operable machine floor at top.
I have modeled The columns and horizontal members(beams)
to be fixed at the joints(no releases). And with hinge supports.
SAP2000 automatically assign effective length...
