Fasteners and options for highly corrosive atmospheric environment

Thank you for your informative response. I have used Denso wax tape before on large flanges. But I am not familiar with epoxy, Dow Corning 734 silicone, or other products. Other than Dow Corning 734 silicone, would you recommend any specific product for encapsulation? Thank you.

Fasteners and options for highly corrosive atmospheric environment

I would like to learn more about what mitigation measures are used in a highly corrosive atmospheric environment, such as off-shore applications. The original design uses galvanized steel, with some aluminum parts and stainless steel fasteners. I am thinking the HDG may not be enough for such a...

    Inspecting galvanization

White corrosion products are observed on the galvanized steel piles within a month, some minor and some more severe. The client shared some photos of the piles. The surface looks uneven, and some spots are not coated or the coating peeled off. Is there any protocol for inspecting the...

What pipe materials will dominate the market in the future

Ferrous pipes corrode easily and may produce tuberculars. Plastic pipes may leach chemicals and can not take much external pressure. Also PVC tend to break in the winter under freezing condition and I am not aware of any way to heat the PVC pipe from freezing. Still, I think PVC/HDPE pipes...

    close interval survey

Thank you guys for your replies. How about discontinuous pipe then? Can CIS be performed if the pipe is not continuous? If not, why is that?

    close interval survey

thank you very much, Steve. But in order to do what you said we are doing, I would imaging we need to move the connection of the pipe. For example, initially both half-cell and pipe are connected at location A0. Both the half-cell and the pipe connection should move to location A1, A2, A3 and...

    close interval survey

I just stated working in cathodic protection industry and I am confused about the mechanism of close interval survey. Would someone help me or point some reference for me? Really appreciate your inputs. I understand that we try to measure the potential difference between the pipe and the soil...
