IDEAS - Has it actually been retired ?

Hi, I've been contracting at a company who use IDEAS alongside an early version of Teamcenter. They're reasonably happy with what they get out of IDEAS as the designs are fairly simple but their VAR is pushing them to go to NX. Whilst nobody can doubt this would give them a much better platform...

    Bending Plastic In Inventor ?

Does anyone know of a way to bend a plastic sheet in Inventor so that you have the 3D model and the flat-pattern? The process of manufacturing the bend is to notch a vee on the bend line, heat the plastic and bend the two edges of the vee together, this is what I am having problems with, the...

Does anyone use AutoCAD Electrical for Substion Design?

I beleive there is a company in the UK that has lots of useful information about AutoCAD Electrical on their web-site. www.altasystems.co.uk. You can also get trial CD's to try the software out !

Free Drag of Parts and Sub Assemblies

Panzer ... close down Inventor and go to your local dealer and buy Pro/ENGINEER :) As you drill deeper you will find more of these problems with Inventor assemblies. We switched it off and moved to Pro/E which has far superior assembly tools for a couple of hundred dollars more.

Inventor 8 crashes importing large IGES files

If the data that fails is all coming from the same source then I would suggest asking them to check their IGES settings - could be they are exporting a load of stuff you just don't need. If the failed translations are from a number of sources it's unlikely to be the files themselves. Try...

Migration from AutoCAD to Solidworks - Warranted??

The previous 2 posts say it all ... once you have experienced the benefits of a 3D parametric modeller (decreaed lead times, faster reworking etc.) there really isn't a case for going back to 2D. One cautionary note though .... unless you have a compelling reason to go with Solidworks...

    PRO ENGINEER WILDFIRE BOOK

Like I said in a previous post, I found the books from Schroff Development Corp (SDC) very useful - much better in fact than the manuals we received when attending our official PTC training. You can go to www.schroff.com to find out more. I believe Amazon stock most of their Pro/E titles. Hope...

    CAD program for pipelines

It depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you want to lay out pipework and fittings in a building environment you would do a lot worse than look at Autodesk Building Systems. This product allows you to take architectural data and design, in 3D, pipework and electrical services. If its...
