We use the save as flat (icon kept in the Quick Access toolbar)which outputs a dxf this is used for the laser. The latest ST3 uses the flattern view as the default for orientation so if that is a requirement get in to the habit of flattening the part in the correct orientation for grained steel...
I usually open the new draft and cut and paste the old drg into it, that makes new styles available. I believe it could also drag in old styles which may not be what you want.
