    proper generator hookup

"Home Power" magazine may have some good articles that apply to what you want to do. It has a search engine on the web page. Try the following link: http://www.homepower.com/

I first posted this under Acoustics

Thread 238-6424 has some very interesting discussion of the energy dissipated from a short circuit including the TNT equivalent energy.

    Home Slab Pointers

Thanks for the good advise. I will discuss with a few contractors and will try to locate the reference in a library. The price is a bit steep for a one use purchase. The construction has been delayed for a while; this leaves some time to develop plans and check details a bit more thoroughly...

Finding a source for 1.5 inch net pots

Thanks to my wife. She patiently recommended that I cut off the neck and make the hole fit the 2 inch net pot which I have. Duh!!!

    Home Slab Pointers

Thanks for the feedback. The PCA site appears to be a goldmine of information. I agree that it is prudent to have the finished concept reviewed by someone with the appropriate experience; that is probably a governmental requirement to obtain permits also.

    Home Slab Pointers

Can anyone suggest a good reference to review which will cover the high points to consider for a residential slab? My future slab will be on sandy soil - hard clay under approximately 3 feet of sandy soil.

Finding a source for 1.5 inch net pots

Cam anyone advise a source for 1 1/2 inch net pots? The U. of Hawaii has an interesting project using large juice containers to grow plants in a 'passive hydroponic' system. If anyone is interested, more info is at the site: http://www2.ctahr.hawaii.edu, look at "Home Garden&quot...

    Acceptable Greenhouse "skin"

I appreciate the insight from TheAnswerGuy. I will be actively digging for details from the possible sources next week when everyone is back from holidays. I have enough data now to begin a data base of features to compare between various manufacturers. Macrolux (CO-EX Corp) and SUNTUF Inc...

    Acceptable Greenhouse "skin"

Patprimmer, That is a very interesting web site. It is a bit over the top of my project, but is a great cocept.

    Acceptable Greenhouse "skin"

TheAnswerGuy, Thanks for the tips. I have begun collecting product information for the various polycarbonate alternatives: corrugated, flat sheet, and extruded twin walled. The luxury of tripple walled extruded sheet is not justified for my project. The performance and life specifications...

    Acceptable Greenhouse "skin"

Patprimmer, does the UV stabilized PC have a coating similar to eyeglasses 'anti glare' coating? Or is it a chemical additive to the Polycarbonate during manufacture? Ornerynorsk, Yes, the sun is definitly a heat source to be taken into account - especially here in the Texas summer. I...

    Acceptable Greenhouse "skin"

Computer problems (or software) did not recognize my title. It should have quote marks around the word skin.

    Acceptable Greenhouse "skin"

I am considering using either a thin polycarbonate sheet or a double thick sheet (6 mm) for a commercial greenhouse covering. The polycarbonate seems to withstand UV well, and the sheets appear to withstand hail and other impacts well. The visible light transmission is greater than 82% which...
