MA is one of the side product in phthalic anhydride (PA) production plan. because of low purity of MA (82%), it cannot be sold but treated as waste.

why the product is stored in solid form since it is in liquid foorm when come out from switch condenser.

it may because the process need certain amount of phthalic anhydride to continue the process, thus product from switch condenser will be store before go to distillate column to avoid drying
i refered to several pattern of process producing phthalic anhydride through oxidation of o-xylene and i found out that after seperation of gases and liquid phthalic anhydride, the bottom product of switch condenser (Phthalic anhydride) will be stored in solid phase in a storage tank befare...
when we calculate the UF for plant, we need to divide plant cost index with base cost index. if i take plant cost index on 2001, which year should i refer as base cost index
